2022
M247 reiterates its commitment to delivering transformation through technology with a multi-million-pound investment in its core network to supercharge 5G capabilities for customers. Amid increased business demand for ultra-fast connectivity, M247 also extends a partnership with Neos Networks to further expand its 10Gbps capabilities. The growing company continues its investment in strategic senior leadership teams and creating an Innovation Team to drive product and service strategy.
2021
M247 continues to support businesses in the ‘new normal’ of hybrid working. The company expands its channel partner presence into Ireland, and continues to build its cloud services and connectivity offerings under new CEO Darryl Edwards. M247 further strengthens its partnerships with leading technology, software and security firms, becoming a certified Microsoft Gold Partner and introducing a Teams-based contact centre solution for its growing customer base.
2020
By now an established and trusted connectivity M247 spends much of 2020 helping businesses and organisations make the move to remote working as the Covid-19 pandemic hits. Alongside this, M247 continues its international expansion through the development of its Unified Communications suite and is ranked 59th in the Prolific North Top 75 Tech & eCommerce Companies 2020.
2019
M247 continues to grow its customer offering, with the capability to deliver full multi-cloud and multi-connectivity services. Following a strong period of growth, the group of three legacy businesses is rebranded together as one, as M247. Now an integrated, cohesive and forward-thinking brand, M247 is the product of three market leaders, with heritage in connectivity, hosting and cloud.
2017
With ambitious plans to extend its share of the London market, Metronet (UK) completes its acquisition of Venus Business Communications, a provider of superfast, high-speed leased-line fibre in central London and The City
2016
Metronet (UK) begins its growth strategy with the acquisition of M247 Ltd, now a leading internet infrastructure and hosting company based in Manchester and Bucharest. The acquisition strengthens Metronet’s international network and hosting infrastructure and positions the company for further growth.
2015
After a successful initial move into global markets, M247 Ltd opens its first international tier-3 data centre in Bucharest, Romania.
2014
Global private equity firm Livingbridge announces a secondary buyout of Metronet (UK), as the company prepares for international growth and expansion as a connectivity and hosting provider.
2012
After 12 years of successful trading in the UK, M247 Ltd begins its customer-led expansion journey with its first move into the European market.
2003
Metronet (UK) is founded. This innovative, future-focused company delivers high-speed connectivity to businesses across the Northwest of England through a combination of wireless and wired technologies. The company is soon operating the most advanced hybrid ISP network in the UK, offering faster connectivity to businesses than traditional fibre.
2000
Legacy business M247 Ltd is created by two founders. The hosting company quickly becomes renowned among demanding content customers for its low-latency, peered network. Headquartered in Manchester, M247 Ltd is part of the growing digital economy in the Northwest of England.
