Once you have chosen the right fibre leased line provider, you will want to get your fibre connection installed as quickly as possible.
If you have chosen an independent fibre network provider, they will carry out a site survey and take care of the engineering work needed to initiate the installation process. Once installation is underway, you can help to speed it up by doing the following:
1. Identify existing fibre infrastructure in your building
If there is existing fibre infrastructure in your building, you will need to inform your fibre network provider before they begin installing your fibre leased line.
The following images show examples of equipment that indicate existing fibre infrastructure in your building. If you spot any of these in your building (they are usually located in the basement), you should notify your leased line provider at the earliest opportunity.

3. Identify fibre presence on your floor, in your office, or communications rack
The next set of images show examples of equipment that indicate fibre presence on the floor of your building, in your office, or in your communications rack. Once again, if you spot any of these in your premises, you should notify your fibre leased line provider as soon as possible.

3. Place your leased line order as early as possible
If your building or office doesn’t have fibre present, a new fibre optic cable will need to be installed from the nearest telephone exchange and into your premises. This process may require heavy construction work, and unexpected setbacks sometimes do occur. This can mean longer installation times. By ordering your fibre connection early before your installation deadline you help to decrease the impact that any setbacks have on the installation time of your fibre connection.
4. Be flexible during the leased line installation process
If you have provided your leased line provider with a tight installation deadline, they may need to access your building during out of office hours (such as weekends and before/after normal working hours). By being available to grant your provider access to your building during these hours you help them to install your fibre connection within a shorter time scale.
5. Address any landlord requirements as early as possible
Naturally, your landlord may be concerned about the work being carried to install your leased line, and may want to review and approve any plans for the installation of fibre cables. Your landlord may also request a Wayleave.
The time it takes for your landlord to review and respond to these requirements can slow down the installation time of your fibre connection.
