M247 believe technology has the power to transform business, and with the capability to deliver full multi-cloud and multi-connectivity services it is set apart in the international market. Our vision is to be the most innovative partner for growing businesses.
2018
The newly combined group re-branded as M247 following a strong period of growth and as a symbol of the unique blend of the three legacy businesses coming together. M247 was now the product of three strategically combined market leaders with heritage in both connectivity and hosting and cloud.
2017
With further ambitious growth plans to extend its share of the London market, the acquisition of Venus Business Communications was completed by Metronet (UK). Venus was a provider of superfast, high-speed fibre in central London and the city.
2016
Metronet (UK) began its growth strategy which saw the acquisition of leading internet infrastructure and hosting company M247 Ltd, based in Manchester and Bucharest, a move which strengthened the group’s international network and hosting infrastructure.
2015
M247 Ltd opened its first international tier 3 data centre in Bucharest, Romania an indication of the success the business was achieving after its initial move into global markets.
2014
Global private equity firm, LivingBridge, announced a secondary buyout of Metronet (UK) in a move to prepare the business for international growth and expansion into a connectivity and hosting provider.
2012
M247 Ltd began its customer led international expansion journey with its first move into the Romanian market after over 10 years of successful trading in the UK.
2003
Metronet (UK) was founded delivering high-speed connectivity through a combination of wireless and wired technologies to businesses in North West England. Soon the company was operating the most advanced hybrid ISP network in the UK, offering faster connectivity to businesses than traditional fibre.
2000
Legacy business M247 Ltd was created by two founders. This hosting company was quickly renowned for its low latency, peered network designed for demanding content customers. Head quartered in Manchester it was part of the growing digital economy in the North West of England.
