Metronet (UK), the UK’s most advanced Internet Service Provider, partnered with UK based service provider T James Telecoms to provide connectivity for the Rugby World Cup fan zone at Eastside Park in Birmingham.

T James Telecoms, based in Kettering, provided circuits for all 15 of the fan zones so that supporters, sponsors and the media could benefit from accessing free WiFi while watching the games. The official Rugby World Cup fan zones gave people in England and Cardiff the chance to soak up the atmosphere of the tournament and join in the nationwide celebration of rugby.

T James were let down last minute by their provider for the Birmingham fan zone and were left without any connectivity. Needing to find another provider who could provide a quick install they contacted Metronet (UK) about their wireless solutions.

Metronet (UK) provided a 100Mbps temporary wireless connection to the site within 48 hours and the fan zone was up and running in time for the games.

Keith Boyd of T James said, “We were so grateful that Metronet (UK) were able to step in and provide us with a connection last minute and in such a short space of time. They are a real credit and the fan zone would not have worked without them.

David Segger of Metronet (UK) said, “Our wireless technology means that we are able to provide quick and temporary connectivity where needed. When T James approached us we knew it would be no problem to get the fan zone connected. We are happy that we have been able to help out the Rugby World Cup and look forward to working with T James again in the future.”
