M247 technology are seeking a Hosting and Cloud infrastructure engineer to support the Hosting and Cloud infrastructure engineering function. The Technology TDO organization is responsible for all delivery, operations and optimization of the company hosting and cloud, platforms and services.

The scope of Hosting and Cloud platform team is very much focused in a DEV/OPS operating model. The scope of the team covers all UK Hosting services including dedicated servers, technical remote hands and data centre support, shared web hosting and VPS platforms, public and private cloud platforms, solutions and the evolving Cloud product set. Additionally, providing Platform-as-a-Service for M247 internal IT systems and services.

The infrastructure engineer’s role is to implement, manage and maintain the physical infrastructure behind the platforms within M247 UK Data Centres.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and deliver key projects and customer solutions, particularly rack space, network services and servers
  • Manage the hosting delivery queue to meet projected revenue targets on-time
  • Manage customer hardware faults to ensure resolution in adherence to SLA
  • Take responsibility for the upkeep of the hosting infrastructure portfolio
  • Ensure all relevant internal inventory and information systems are up to date, with accurate information
  • Support customers with data centre solutions (DCaaS), including remote hands tasks
  • Assist customers, visitors and contractors visiting the data centre, ensuring company security policy is followed
  • Work as part of a unified 24×7 team with overnight and weekend shifts on rotation
  • Where required complete system administration tasks including with Windows and Linux operating systems, MySQL database servers, web servers, RAID controllers and Cisco switching equipment
  • Production of low level operational and support documentation
  • Assist the network team with network service fault diagnostics and general network upkeep

Role Specific Attributes

  • Experience in a support or Information Technology / Data Centre role
  • Working knowledge of the ISO27001 security framework
  • Systems admin experience, across Windows, Unix, Linux etc
    Desirable
  • Networking skills – Cisco, Juniper
  • Appreciation of Managed Service Providers environments
  • Familiar with IT Enterprise Architectures – Business Support Systems and

Operational Support Systems

  • Working knowledge/experience with Cloud architectures – Public (AWS, Azure) and Private Cloud solutions
  • Working knowledge/experience with MSP operational best practice
