1st May 2013 - Our second showing at the Convergence Summit North and this year’s show is far busier than last year. 6th Mar 2013 - Warburtons, the UK’s largest bakery brand and second biggest grocery brand , has recently signed a five-year contract with M247. The deal secures a significant amount of space at our Manchester datacentres where we will provide managed co-located servers and high capacity connectivity to the Warburtons Bolton operation.

23rd Jan 2013 - For many years, we have developed a formidable level of expertise in data security with most of the know-how based at our Kidderminster offices. As a SonicWall Gold Solution Provider, we now have a further three newly qualified SonicWALL technical support engineers based at the M247 head office in Manchester. As part of a strategy to meet the demands of customers taking data security very seriously, these new additions bring our current SonicWALL support team to a total of eight engineers and we have plans to increase this level even further in the near future. Since it’s unlikely that there are many companies in the UK providing this level of SonicWALL support, this commitment demonstrates that we mean business and intend to grow our data security offerings to businesses in the private and public sectors.
12th Dec 2012 - We can reveal that a new director has recently been appointed to the M247 Board. Anne Sillars is already well known to all of us at M247 as she has worked for the company for many years. She always has a smiling and friendly face during her visits to our Manchester head office and on her home turf in our Kidderminster office.

15th Nov 2012 - We have begun to fill our second multi-million pound datacentre and have recently taken delivery of a large consignment of server racks that are soon to be fitted inside our new purpose built secure and climate controlled data floor. There will be more than 300 of these rack by the time the data floor is completely full. “This will give us practically unlimited capacity for many years into the future and it’s just what’s needed to help us meet the demands of the new communications and media markets ” says Chris Byrd, M247 Technical Director.
14th Nov 2012 - We are growing fast in the UK and as part of our strategy to grow new business opportunities inside mainland Europe we have recently acquired Romanian Internet firm Clues.ro The deal will maintain the existing Clues management with technical support and billing now to be based at our UK head offices.

16th Oct 2012 - Many of our Directors could be found manning the M247 stand at the Convergence Summit South last week. This was an important event for us as we used it for the launch of our range of Virtual Network Operator solutions which aroused a great deal of interest. Another successful feature of this year’s show was the series of “Thought Leadership” seminar events at which M247 Technical Director Chris Byrd (pictured second from the left) answered many searching questions about the role of the data centre in the convergence and unified comms marketplace.
9th Oct 2012 - M247 is a proud sponsor of the charity Simply Limitless, which is based near our premises in Kidderminster. M247 staff Wayne Davies and Guy Dawes recently completed a 101 mile sponsored bike ride over two days from Winchester to Eastbourne over the South Downs Way. Simply Limitless is made up of a passionate group of people working to improve the lives of disadvantaged people in the local community. The charity is based in a renovated carpet factory in Kidderminster where it provides facilities for recreation and education.

17th Jan 2012 - Norwich University College of the Arts (NUCA) had an aging firewall and a wireless network based around 60 switches spread across 7 city centre buildings. Running around 150 PCs for administrators and none-academic staff, the remainder of computers on the network are mostly dual-boot Apple Macs which are used by 300 academic staff and 1600 students. The M247 consultancy team had the answer and solved the problems with a SonicWALL.

10th Jan 2012 - We have greatly improved the airflow on our datafloor by installing a bank of extraction fans on the opposite side of the building to the cooling system. The improved efficiency of airflow and cooling has been achieved at little additional cost and has further improved the exterior aesthetics of our building by lowering the profile of the cooling system.

David Green, from the University’s Department of Engineering, visited the company’s Manchester datacentre and head office recently to have a look at the innovations used to build M247’s renowned climate control system which helps keeps its burgeoning datafloor operating efficiently while at the same time significantly lowering M247’s carbon footprint and reducing the bottom line of its annual power spend.

21st Sep 2011 - Described by Technical Director Chris Byrd as a deal that was “too good to miss” we are pleased to announce that we have purchased a new building, right next door to our existing datacentre, that will give us lots of room to expand. Since 2009, our existing building (DC1) has housed full-time 24 x 7 technical support, administration and management staff with a state of the art datacentre being housed on a separate floor. Now this new additional building (DC2) offers lots of potential for growth and development into new areas.

25th Mar 2011 - M247 Ltd division Ice Colo has recently had two exciting expansion upgrades, unusual in these economic times, but with their industry recognised high growth levels the increase of capacity and greater customer service is vital to keep at the very top of their offerings. The first upgrade has been on the Manchester ring, increasing it from 10GE to 20GE using Global AXS’s CWDM ring, this gives far greater room for expansion in the near future and means that the Data centre is now a 40Gbit site.
