Adiabatic Cooling Developments

The M247 flagship datacentre at our Trafford Park headquarters (DC1) is, with a PuE of just 1.18, already well known to set the European benchmark for efficient datafloor cooling but we have recently taken this technology even further and developed a system that utilises the exhaust hot air from our server aisles to heat our office accommodation during the winter months.

Additionally we have greatly improved the airflow on our datafloor by installing a bank of extraction fans on the opposite side of the building to the cooling system. The improved efficiency of airflow and cooling has been achieved at little additional cost and has further improved the exterior aesthetics of our building by lowering the profile of the cooling system.

Another benefit of these efforts is that they directly affect our bottom line and enables us to pass on power cost savings to our customers by ensuring that our offerings remain competitive.
